William Goodenough House administers a total of 119 flats situated in Mecklenburgh Square. These are divided into one, two and three bedroom flats and include a living room, kitchen and bathroom. There is some variation in size and arrangement of rooms. For example, some flats have an open plan living room/kitchen whereas others have separate rooms. Please note that the size of flat offered is related to the size of family of the applicant.
All flats are fully furnished and equipped with china, glassware, cutlery and cooking utensils. Items not supplied are table and kitchen linen, towels or an iron, washing machine or television set. A telephone is provided which is linked to the College telephone system. The current tariff is available from Reception. Electricity usage is monitored by meter which is read and charged every quarter.
The College does not automatically provide bedding, however this is available to purchase at a reasonable price if you do not wish to supply your own. Cleaning services are provided for communal areas, however, residents are responsible for the cleanliness of their flats. Laundry facilities are provided in William Goodenough House.
Rents are subsidized by the College and include hot water, central heating in the winter months and the cleaning of windows. Rents are reviewed annually at the beginning of September.
The College provides all permanent residents with personal possessions insurance, free, for the duration of their stay here. Full details of the cover will be available on arrival at the Trust. Single items valued at over a certain amount, pedal cycles, mobile phones and contact lenses are not covered but you can arrange extended cover, for which you must pay, when you arrive in London.
A private nursery school is based in William Goodenough House. Preferential places are available for resident's children from 2-4 years. The charge is reviewed periodically.
